We are raising funds in memory of our dear friend Jona, whose kindness and compassion touched both people and animals in the most profound way.

 

Jona lived in Dubai, working hard in low paying jobs just to get by. Despite having so little, she gave so much. Every day, she made sure stray animals had water, and whenever she could, she fed them. She went out of her way to find help for sick cats, connecting them with sponsors and care. This is how many of us came to know her, through her selfless love for animals.

 

Sadly, after struggling to find stable work and even facing homelessness for a short time, Jona returned to the Philippines. Even there, she continued her mission, caring for animals in her village with the same dedication and heart.

 

Tragically, just a few months after returning home, Jona fell ill and passed away unexpectedly at only 42 years old.

 

She leaves behind her 84 year old father, who is now doing his best to care for all the animals she rescued and brought home. It is not an easy task. The dogs sometimes fight, the daily cleaning is exhausting, and the responsibility is overwhelming for someone of his age.

 

Jona also leaves behind her sister, who is currently working in Singapore and sending money home to support their father. We hope to help reunite her with her family so she can return to the Philippines, care for her father, and continue the work Jona started, looking after the animals she loved so deeply.

 

Our goal is to raise enough funds to cover their living expenses and animal care costs for one full year. This will give Jona’s sister the time and stability she needs to return home, support her father, and ensure the animals are safe and cared for.

 

As a friend of Jona, this is the least we can do to honor her life by protecting the animals she gave everything for.
